Serre Chevalier Valley, France
In Serre Chevalier you’ll bask in a unique Mediterranean and Alpine climate, with great snow and sunshine all year round.
One of Europe’s largest ski areas at 1200m near the Italian border, Serre Chevalier is in France’s southern Alps. It enjoys guaranteed snow and 300 days of sunshine a year. The area is linked by four main villages: Briançon, Chantemerle, Villeneuve and Le Mônetier Les Bains.
Being in the south of France, this area has a special feel to it: a welcoming atmosphere and relaxed attitude not found in most northern French Alpine resorts.
There’s so much to experience in Serre Chevalier. Non-skiers can use the ski lifts to enjoy the fantastic panoramas and take in the pure mountain air. You can also visit the new spa baths in Monêtier, where indoor and outdoor pools are fed by naturally heated mineral-rich spring water – a perfect way to unwind. Other alternatives to skiing include ice driving, paragliding, snow-kiting, horse-drawn carriage rides, ice climbing and cross-country skiing, hiking trails and snowshoeing. You can explore both the valley and the fortified town of Briançon. Full of art, culture and history, Briançon is listed as a UNESCO site and is well worth a visit.
